Hey, this is next play on campus, where we send under-the-radar opportunities for students to help them figure out what’s next.

If you’re new to next play, welcome! Our goal is to help you figure out what’s next. We do this by sending interesting opportunities including jobs, internships, fellowships, virtual/in-person events, and much more. You can always reply to this email if you have any ideas or feedback — we hope to be helpful.

Joining something:
Alice from Mad Realities is hiring an intern to work on production and office management. Mad Realities is trying to build a new form of media, attempting to bridge the gap between “culture born online and production-level TV.” You’ll be working in their sunlit SoHo office ~ 2 days/week. Allen is building Vibee, a social app that uses AI to connect people based on their “vibes.” He’s looking for marketing interns to join his team, particularly people passionate about social media, event management, and connecting others. Darsh is building Growth Street, a platform to help college students achieve their career goals. They’ve built a platform that helps scale personalized mentorship. Databricks is a data intelligence platform now used by 1000s of companies. They are hiring a data sicence intern to work on meaty machine learning problems. You can learn more and apply here.
Upway hopes to create a world where cars are the exception and e-bikes are the norm. They are hiring an operations intern (based in Germany). You can apply here.
Glean is building a platform to make knowledge work faster. You can think of it like a Google + ChatGPT built for enterprises. They are hiring a software engineering intern. You can learn more and apply here.
Michael from Studdy is trying to build an AI math tutor for every student. They are hiring a campus strategist this fall. You can learn more and apply here.
Neighbor is hoping to build the world’s largest hyperlocal marketplace (they recently raised $65 million to do this), and they are already live in all 50 states. They are hiring a graphic design intern. You can learn more and apply here.
Astranis is hoping to bring internet access to the world by building smaller, more cost-effective spacecraft. They are hiring a hardware intern. You can learn more and apply here.
Starting something:
Aneel from Soma Capital has reopened the Soma Capital Fellowship—a $100k to $1m grant in exchange for 0% ownership in your startup. They want to fund people at the earliest stages of their company building journey, meaning you could just be starting. You can apply for their fall cohort here.
Investing:
Dorm Room Fund is looking for investment partners across US universities as they hope to back other student founders through their $12.5m student-led venture fund. West Coast applications are open until September 29th, 2024. Partners are expected to commit roughly 10-15 hours per week. You can learn more here and apply here.
Jonathan helps run the DayDream Fellowship, where they help students from non-target universities break into venture capital. You can learn more here and apply for their fall program here.
